Summary:
The Special Education Data Analyst plays a vital role in supporting the special education program by analyzing and interpreting data related to student performance, program effectiveness, compliance, and resource allocation. This position requires exceptional analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to generate actionable insights to drive decision-making and improve outcomes for students with special needs.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Collect, validate, and analyze special education data to identify trends, patterns, and areas requiring improvement.
2. Develop and maintain comprehensive databases and reporting systems to effectively manage and track special education student information.
3. Collaborate with special education staff, administrators, and other stakeholders to identify data requirements and ensure accurate data collection and reporting.
4. Generate reports, dashboards, and visualizations to present data-driven insights to inform program planning, resource allocation, and decision-making processes.
5. Conduct regular audits to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and compliance with state and federal regulations.
6. Assist in the development and implementation of data collection tools, surveys, and assessments to measure program effectiveness, student progress, and compliance.
7. Analyze student performance data to identify gaps in achievement, monitor progress, and develop targeted interventions and instructional strategies.
8. Stay abreast of current research, best practices, and legal requirements related to special education data management and reporting.
9. Provide training and support to special education staff and administrators on data collection procedures, systems, and reporting requirements.
10. Collaborate with district technology personnel to troubleshoot and resolve data management issues, ensuring data integrity and security.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Statistics, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in data analysis, preferably in an educational setting.
- In-depth knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
- Proficient in data collection, validation, analysis, and visualization techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Advanced proficiency in data management and analysis tools (e.g., Excel, SPSS, Tableau, etc.).
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and communicate complex information effectively.
- Familiarity with student information systems and data reporting platforms.
- Knowledge of research methodologies and statistical analysis.
- Understanding of privacy and confidentiality guidelines related to student data.
